It's been a busy week for the women and girls at Sefton Park with a number of fixtures.
On Friday, June 7, the Under 13 girls made the short trip to Liverpool in search of their first win of the season. Bowling first, an excellent spell from Felicity Fry saw her take 3-3 from her two overs as Liverpool posted a net score of 229 (54-5) off their 15 overs. Felicity then top scored with 10 runs but a nerve-wracking finish saw the last pair of Wren Lavery and Abi Summers to seal a narrow four run win as Sefton finished on 233 (63-6).
On Sunday, June 9, the Women's 1st XI travelled to Tarleton in the LCF Women's 40 Over League. Fielding first, Lorna Harper was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4-10 as the hosts were dismissed for 63. Openers Sarah Jackson (28no) and Emma Watson (23) made quick work of the chase as the visitors won by nine wickets off just 8.2 overs.
The successful 1st XI after their win at Tarleton
Sefton Park also hosted a girl's cricket festival on Sunday with dozens of juniors from across Merseyside visiting the club for a very well-run event - thanks to everyone who helped out.
It was T20 cricket on Tuesday evening as the Women's 1st XI travelled to Hightown St Mary's. Batting first, the hosts made 69-6 with Caitlin Summers (2-14) posting the best figures. Lauren Rutland (27) top scored as Sefton's women sealed a seven wicket win.
On Wednesday, the girls and women both united for a Taylor Swift-themed net practice!
Finally we would like to offer a massive thanks to SFL Mobile Radio who have very generously agreed to sponsor our girl's section and will help with a number of bursaries, kit and balls.
