The sun shone on Sefton again for a second day as the club continued its good start to the season.
The day started with the Women's 1st XI traveling to Hightown St Mary's for their opening fixture in the Women's T20 League, Put into bat, Sefton recovered from 18-3 with an excellent fourth wicket partnership of 103 between Sarah Culloty (53 rtd) and Lauren Rutland (32) taking them to a total of 131-5. In reply, the hosts were blown away for just 28 all out with Lucy Brooks' 3-1 the pick of the figures.
Alex Woods' Sunday XI began their campaign in the 3rd XI Sunday Premier Division with a home game against Ainsdale. Oliver Andrew-Frost (3-16) and Andy Fallows (3-34) helped ensure the visitors were bowled out for 84 off 19.3 overs. Opener Sarhad Rustom (32) and Tom Rushton (22no) sealed a comprehensive eight wick win.

In Division Two of the 3rd XI Sunday League, skipper Ronan Brady led his charges to Newton le Willows where he won the toss and elected to bat. Tom Yates (25), Jo Ledbury (31), Chris Mitchell (25no), and Ronan with 44, took Sefton to 186-8 declared off 48.5 overs. Chris (3-25), Ronan (3-14) and Matt Darbon's 2-4 off just six overs too Sefton to the brink of victory but the hosts held on for the draw closing on 132-9 off 43 overs.
In the U12 girls league Sefton Sharks played Sefton Sapphires in a closely fought match which saw the Sharks come out on top by eight runs. Well done to our five hard ball debutants on a really special occasion for the club, fielding two teams in the league.
