The Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Ron Gould and his wife Tina, the Lady Mayoress opened the New Pavilion and Lower Ground. They were greeted by Sefton Park's President, John Morgan and Chairman, Mike Poole.

A 30 over game then followed in which the Lord Mayor's XI captained by Ted Williams played A Sefton Park XI captained by Paul Horton

The picture opposite shows the Lord Mayor sportingly taking his turn at the crease.

It will probably be a long time before we see anyone taking the field wearing the Mayoral Chain and cricket pads again. He received a great round of applause for this effort.

The two sides are pictured opposite. Ted Williams side was an Over 30 XI (some well over!) and Paul Horton's mainly the youngsters.

The score for the day did not really matter, but did Tony Green really bowl Paul Horton?

Pictured left is the game in progress showing the 'new view' at Sefton Park with the Main Pavilion in the background.

Below are a few images of a very enjoyable day.
