Sunday 2nd September....Defeat in Ray Tyler Cup by Liverpool

The First XI met Liverpool in the final of the Ray Tyler Cup. Sefton won the toss and decided to bat first. At 66 for 3, they needed runs and when Greg Harvey joined Sean Vandome in the middle, they put on 74 together for the fourth wicket. However, when Sean went for 81 with the score on 140, Greg followed 3 runs later for 31. Neil Durand then made a rapid 30 in 22 balls to take the score to 180 for 6 but Sefton were only able to add another 40 runs being all out for 220 with two balls of the 45 overs left. They were not helped by 3 run outs in the inning.

Liverpool began their reply quickly, putting on 64 for the first wicket, Rob Houghton's introduction into the attack, slowed the run rate down but they were able to retain the 5 runs an over throughout the innings and passed the Sefton total with 11 balls left and 7 wickets down. Rob Houghton finished with 4 for 23 in his 9 overs.

Congratulations to Liverpool
