Sunday 3rd June....First XI through to next round of Ray Tyler Cup

The First XI made another short journey, this time to play Old Xaverians.The home team won the toss and decided to bat first. The Sefton bowlers were always in control and dismissed the home team for 145 in 38.2 overs, Daniel Kelly took 2 for 13, R Houghton 3 for 24, Phil Calrow 2 for 24 and Greg Harvey 2 for 20.

In reply, the Sefton batsmen did not find things easy and had to thank a first 50 from Jermain Davis and controlled batting from Greg Harvey (26 not out) to guide them to a 2 wicket victory in the 41st over, earlier James Baird had scored 20 opening the batting.

Sefton now go on to play Prestatyn at Sefton Park, scheduled for 24th June.

The Second XI played Ainsdale in a league game. They batted first and put on 67 for the first wicket with Dan Coonan and Andy Aitchison both scoring 40. Rob Supria scored 68 as they declared on 220 for 7 in 39.2 overs.

Ainsdale did little to chase the Sefton total and finished on 186 for 9 in 44 overs in a drawn game with the last batmen facing 8 balls. Huzaifa Zubair was the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 28, Andy Foulder took 2 for 52 and Austin Ventre 2 for 38.

The Third XI played Birchfield Park on the Lower Ground in the Mike Leddy Cup. Birchfield Park batted first and were dismissed for 123 in the 32nd over, Harry Deveney took 3 for 15, Adnan Fazal 4 for 12 and Zubair Ali 2 for 11.

Sefton had no problems in reply, passing the Birchfield total for the loss of 1 wicket in the 24th over. In form batsmen Richard Regler (46) and Harry Deveney (47 not out) scored the bulk of the runs.

Sefton Park travel to Wallasey for the quarter final, scheduled for 10th June.
