Saturday 2nd June...Defeat at Wavertree

The First XI made the short journey to play Wavertree. The home side won the toss and decided to bat first. After Sefton took an early wicket on 13, the home side put on the best stand of the match of 60 for the second wicket. After that, the introduction of Rob Houghton into the attack saw wickets fall fairly quickly. He finished with 6 for 32 as Wavertree were dismissed for 142 in the 53rd over.

In reply, Sefton never got going and were dismissed for 73 in the 26th over with 4 wickets falling on 47. Top scorer was Jermain Davis with 23, Rob Houghton finished on 21 not out.

A more comfortable game at Sefton Park as the Seconds welcomed Lytham. The visitors won the toss and decided to bat first. Huzaifa Zubair took 2 for 20, new boy Harry Bailey 2 for 17 and Phil Calrow 4 for 39 as the visitors were dismissed for 136 in 38.2 overs. Sefton took just 18.3 overs to pass the Lytham total in reply Dan Coonan finished on 66 not out and Adam Taylor 41 not out. in a 9 wicket victory

There was a surprise on the Lower Ground as the Fourth XI defeated the Third XI. The Third XI batted first and scored 195 all out. Connor Melia scored 20, Jon Hague 41, Paul Morris 30 and Jack Gordon-Brown 42 not out, the latter innings prevented the Fourth XI chasing a much smaller total. Terry Macklin took 3 for 49, Corran Murphy 3 for 48 and Jamie Turner 3 for 40.

In reply, openers Harry Wright (45) and Richard Regler (39) gave the Fourth XI a good start, Rob Kennedy scored 25 as the Fourths passed the Thirds total with 5 wickets down. Chris Mitchell finished with 2 for 42 and Mark Boyns 2 for 22
