Saturday 12th May...First XI defeated by Orrell Red Triangle

Orrell Red Triangle were the visitors to Sefton Park. They won the toss and decided to bat first. This seemed totally justified as they reached 173 when the second wicket fell following a partnership of 137. Four wickets then fell quickly but they were able to declare on 201 for 6 in 49 overs at tea. Daniel Kelly finished with 3 for 47 and Richie Forsyth 2 for 45.

Sefton got off to a bad start, losing the first two wickets without a run on the board. Sean Vandome batted through the innings to be last man out with 67. He had partnerships of 47 with Neil Durand (31) and 58 with Rob Houghton (16) before he was bowled with 12 balls remaining.

The Second XI travelled to play Orrell Red Triangle and dismissed the home side for 80 with Huzaifa Zubair taking 6 for 12. Sefton lost four wickets passing the Orrell total

The Third XI travelled to play Bootle's Thirds. The home side batted first and declared on 150 for 6 with Tim Gray taking 3 for 32 and Chris Mitchell 3 for 23. In reply, Sefton were dismissed for 61 with Paul Morris scoring 29.

The Fourth XI played champions Ormskirk on the Lower Ground. Sefton won the toss and decided to bat first. The innings never really got going and they were dismissed for 82 in the 33rd over with Paul Barlow scoring 22 and Jamie Turner 18. Ormskirk knocked off the required runs in 10 overs without losing a wicket.

Better news from the Fifth XI whose season finally got started with a win over Alder's thirds. They dismissed Alder for 125 and in reply struggled to make the runs but 57 from Stuart Lomas and 29 from Joe Ledbury enabled them to pass the Alder total with 2 wickets remaining
