Saturday 5th May....Seven wickets for John Fretwell in Second XI home win

The First XI travelled to play a strong Southport and Birkdale side, Sefton won the toss a decided to bat first. An opening stand of 24 between Sean Vandome (18) and James Baird (14) provided a reasonable start but after that, wickets fell quickly and only Rob Houghton (19 not out) reached double figures as Sefton were dismissed for 70 in 43.4 overs.

In reply, the home side did not find the batting easy and there was some hope at 11 for 2 but they moved on to pass the Sefton total for the loss of only one more wicket in the 28th over. Rob Houghton finished with 2 for 17 in 12 overs.

The Second XI welcomed Wallasey to Sefton Park. The visitors won the toss and decided to bat. John Fretwell bowled unchanged apart from a change of ends for 25 overs and took 7 for 78 as Wallasey scored 171 for 8 dec. in 48 overs.

Sefton set about chasing the runs quickly with Dan Coonan scoring 46, Rob Supria 37, Michael Row 30 and skipper Richie Conlan 39 not out. The passed the Wallasey total for the loss of 6 wickets in 34 overs for the only Sefton Park win of the day.

The Third XI played Birchfield Park on the Lower Ground. They struggled for runs apart from Jon Hague (31) and Jamie Turner (51) and were dismissed for 128 in 27 overs. The visitors passed the total for the loss of 2 wickets.

The Fourth XI travelled to New Brighton to play their SLS XI. They were asked to bat by the home side and were dismissed for 80 with James Daniels scoring 34 and James Hague 13. New Brighton won by 7 wickets with a Sefton wicket for Adam Ahmed caught by his Dad

The Fifth XI game at Maghull was called off because the ground was unfit.
