Sunday 13th August....Two more wins

The Sunday XI made the short journey to plat Liverpool's Fourths. Liverpool decided to bat after winning the toss and were dismissed for 90 in the 30th over. There were wickets for Mark Boyns (2 for 17), Zubair Ali (2 for 33), Joel Parkinson (3 for 9) and Terry Macklin 2 for 4. Paddy Kendall scored 40 in Sefton's reply but runs were never easy to come by and they still needed four to win when the ninth wicket fell. Skipper Mark Boyns hit the four with the only ball he faced and Sefton won by 1 wicket. They are now in second place in the table, 6 points behind leaders Wavertree's Thirds, both having played 12 games.

The Second XI played at Wigan in a game brought forward from the last day of the season at Wigan's request. Wigan won the toss and asked Sefton to bat first. They scored 230 for 4 declared in 37.3 overs with Luke Connolly keeping up his good form, scoring 87 not out, Richie Conlan scoring 44 not out, Michael Row 20 and Liam Naylor 33.

Sefton soon had Wigan in trouble at 51 for 5 but a stand of 87 for the sixth wicket gave the home side some hope. However, after this wickets fell fairly quickly and they were dismissed for 174 in the 47th over. Mark Chappell finsihed with 3 for 16, Robin Brown 3 for 38, John Fretwell 2 for 68 and Huzaifa Zubair 2 for 26.

The Seconds are now second in the table 12 points behind, but having played a game more than the league leaders Ormskirk who visit Sefton Park on Saturday.
