Saturday 6th August....First XI defeat Orrell Red Triangle on another day with five wins

The First XI welcomed Orrell Red Triangle to Sefton Park. The visitors won the toss and asked Sefton to bat first. The Sefton openers put on 120 for the first wicket. Skipper Richie Forsyth was first to be dismissed after scoring 53 and was quickly followed by Sean Vandome who was dismissed with the score on 121 after scoring 59. James Baird went on the on the same score and it looked like a collapse was possible but Neil Durand joined Scott Aitchison in the middle. They put on 48 together before Neil was dismissed 21. Three more wickets fell fairly quickly until Shakeem Clarke joined Scott Aitchison and they score an undefeated 50 Shakeem finished on 25 not out and Scott 49 not out as Sefton declared on 231 for 7 in 54 overs.

Orrell's reply began with an opening stand of 61 which was only stopped by a run out after a direct hit throw from Mark Chappell. Joe Francis joined the Sefton attack after 13 overs and quickly dismissed Orrell's leading scorer, Aussie opener Matt Morgan. Joe took another 2 wickets and finished with 3 for 7. In the meantime Mark Chappell had come on at the other end, he took 3 wickets for 17. With 7 wickets down Shakeem Clarke rejoined the attack and took 3 wickets in his first 7 balls . as Orrell were dismissed for 97 in the 30th over.

The Second XI travelled to Bootle. The home side batted first and were dismissed for 78. John Fretwell took 3 for 10, Robin Brown 3 for 12, new boy Sean Kirk 2 for 21 and Rickie Martin 2 for 20. Sefton had no trouble in knocking off the required runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Richie Conlan finished with 24 and Rob Supria 24 not out.

Neil Disley's ND XI featured in another low scoring game, playing New Brighton's CJXI on the Lower Ground. The visitors batted first and were struggling at 15 for 6 before making a small recovery and reaching 60 all out. Pete Ostler finished with 5 for 17 and Ryan Ouwerkerk 3 for 18. These two players also featured as batsmen as Ryan Ouwerkerk scored 28 not out and Pete Ostler 12 not out as Sefton won by 7 wickets.

Charlie Daniels ND XI travelled to the Wirral to play Merseyside Cricket & Culture. The home side batted first and were dismissed for 158 in 41.3 with Chris Mitchell taking 4 for 34. There was also a first 3rd XI wicket for Adam Ahmed after a catch from his dad Naj. In Reply, Harry Deveney scored 74 not out and James Daniels 41 as Sefton took 38 overs to reach the required total for the loss of 4 wickets.

The 5th XI were away to Prescot and Odyssey, The home side batted first and were dismissed for 134 with Mike Wildsmith taking 5 for 34 and Billy Pinto 3 for 20. Sefton did not loose a wicket in passing the Prescot total with Matt Child scoring 71 not out and Rob Kennedy 52 not out.

So it was five wins out of five for the second time this season and the best thing about these wins were that they were totally convincing with no close games
