Saturday 20th May....Defeat at Orrell Red Triangle

The First XI travelled to Wigan to play Orrell Red Triangle and found rain falling when they arrived. Play did not start until 3:30 pm and after Orrell won the toss, Sefton were asked to bat first. They reached 80 when the the fourth wicket fell mainly thanks to Sean Vandome scoring 41 and Scott Aithison scoring 23. After that, wickets fell quickly and with only Rickie Martin (22 not out) offering any resistance, they were dismissed for 117 in the 34th over.

Hopes were raised with Orrell on 38 for 3 in reply but only one more wicket fell as they passed the Sefton total with four wickets down in 33 overs. Rob Houghton opened the bowling and finished with 2 for 50.

The Second XI welcomed Bootle to Sefton Park and were asked to bat after Bootle won the toss. Two excellent innings from Dan Coonan (78) and Richie Conlan (71) enabled them to declare on 219 for 8 in the 40th over. In reply, Bootle were dismissed for 85 in 28 overs. Hazaifa Zubair finished with 3 for 10, Andy Foulder 2 for 32, Muhmmad Zahid 2 for 12 and Robin Brown 3 for 13.

The CD XI played Merseyside Sports and Cultural Club on the Lower Ground. The visitors won the toss and asked Sefton to bat first. Andy Dickinson (42), Sumraiz Butt (40), Charlie Daniels (22 not out) and James Hague (22 not out) to enable Sefton to declare on 191 for 7 in 41 overs. Chris Mitchell took 4 for 50 and Naj Ahmed 2 for 38 as Merseyside Sports and Cultural reached 173 for 8 in 31 overs as the game was drawn.

Pierre Gill scored 17 for the CD XI in their drawn game with Merseyside Sports and Cultural
