Saturday 9th July....Rain, again, prevents result

The First XI welcomed Ainsdale to Sefton Park in the second of three consecutive home games.

Rain delayed the start until 3:30 pm and with this in mind, Sefton won the toss and asked Ainsdale to bat first. The visitors first wicket fell to a run out. This was followed by three wickets for Ricky Martin who finished with 3 for 21. Rob Houghton then joined the attack and his 4 for 17 enabled Sefton to dismiss Ainsdale for 74 in 34.5 overs.

With rain forecast, Sefton hoped to score rapidly to reach the Ainsdale total but after one break for a shower, more consistent rain set in and the game was called off with Sefton 35 for 4 in 14.2 overs. James Baird was top scorer with 11.

The Second XI travelled to top of the table Formby and bowled the home side out for 134. Iain Squires scored 49 not out to enable them to pass the Formby total with 4 wickets down.

The Third XI game at Merseyside CCC was called off in the morning.

The Fourth XI played Caldy's Third XI on the Lower Ground. This was also a late start and after winning the toss, Sefton asked the visitors to bat first. They were still batting at 7:00 pm when the game was called off, having scored 128 for 5 in 55.2 overs. Harvey Shields took 2 for 22 and Chris Mitchell 2 for 17
