Saturday 3rd September...Another Rainy Day

The First XI travelled to Formby, won the toss and decided to bat first. After an hour with Sefton having scored 40 for 4, the rains arrived causing the game to be abandoned. Jomel Warrican was the top scorer with 13.

The Second XI entertained Northern at Sefton Park. They won the toss and decided to bat first, Paul Eastham scored 58, Elliot Supria 42, Iain Squires 30, Richard Forsyth 28 and Andy Foulder 36 not out in their total of 241 for 7 declared in 45 overs. Unfortunately the rain then arrived in Sefton Park and Northern reached 38 for 1 in 11 overs when the game was called off.

The Third XI game at Bootle was called off before the team travelled.

The Fourth XI needed a win over Ormskirk on the Lower Ground in their quest to avoid relegation. Sefton won the toss and asked Ormskirk to bat. Robin Surtees took 2 for 35 as the visitors declared on 208 for 3 in 45 overs. The rain then intervened but they mopped up and resumed the game. There was not enough time to achieve the win and they finished on 166 for 4 with Adam Flynn scoring 56 and Dave Walton 30.

Saturday 10th September...Home defeat by Alder

The last First XI home game of the season ended in a disappointing home defeat by Alder.

Sefton won the toss and decided to bat first. James Baird scored 40, Paddy Stern 38, Chris Bellis 26 and Luke Connolly 20 in their declared total of 186 for 9 in 63 overs. This total included undefeated stand of 25 for the last wicket between Daniel Kelly and Chris Dye. In reply, Alder made steady progress but with 29 required off the last 3 overs a draw looked likely, however only 3 ball were required for the visitors to complete the win. Peter Kelly took 2 for 48 and Jomel Warrican 2 for 44.

The Second XI travelled to Formby and declared on 251 for 7 in 45 overs after winning the toss. The highlight of the innings was 80 not out by Matty Pownall, Elliot Supria scored 40 and Andy Foulder 30. Dave Kirby took 5 for 68 as the home side finished on 178 for 9 in 39 overs in a drawn game, Formby's last pair faced three overs.

The Third XI game was called off when Birkenhead St Mary's could not raise a side and no game for the Fouth XI.

The Fifth XI played on Sunday against a Maghull Furth XI that needed to win to gain promotion. Sefton batted forst and declared on 220 for 6 in 45 overs. Abdul Rehman (58), Vish Singh (73), Ashish Girhay (31) and Jamie Bowman (20 not out) scored the runs. Maghull reached the target with a six off Liam Tolladay (3-49) with 3 balls and three wickets to spare.
