Saturday 16th July...First XI draw at Maghull is only game to survive rain

With all other Sefton Park games off, the First XI travelled to Maghull for a game that started an hour and 20 minutes late. They were asked to bat first and struggled at first as the first 3 wickets fell for 45 runs. Stands of 40 between Sean Vandome (33) and Paddy Stern (37) for the fourth wicket and 86 between Paddy and Jomel Warrican (66) for the sixth wicket enabled Paul Squires to declare on 218 for 8 in 55 overs. In reply, Maghull made a big attempt to chase the total with a stand of 130 for the second wicket but they eventually finished on 193 for 6 in 30 overs with Peter Kelly taking 3 for 22.

Friday 22nd July...Defeat in Echo KO

Sefton Park have been defeated in the quarter-finals of the Echo KO by Wallasey at Sefton Park. The visitors won the toss and decided to bat first, going to score a massive 190 for 5 in their 20 overs, Matt Pownall took 2 for 44. In reply, Iain Squires scored 72 as Sefton reached 130 for 9 in their 20 overs.



Saturday 23rd July...Win against St Helens Recs

St Helens Recs travelled to Sefton Park for the First XI game. Sefton won the toss and decided to bat first. The openers Chris Bellis (57) and Elliot Supria (32) began slowly but laid a solid foundation with an opening stand of 70. Runs were added by Rob Supria (37) and Jomel Warrican (48) to enable Paul Squires to declare on 226 for 7 in 57 overs. Wickets fell steadily in the St Helens Recs' innings but the last did not fall until fourth ball of the 20th over with at least one more over being possible in the last hour, they reached a total of 141. Jomel Warrican took 4 for 39 and there were two wickets apiece for Matt Pownall, Peter Kelly and Phil Calrow.

The Second XI travelled to table toppers Bootle with a number of regulars missing. They won the toss and decided to bat first but were dismissed for 148 in 46.3 overs with Ali Khan scoring 56 and Jason Marsh 24. Bootle reached the total in the 21st over for the loss of 3 wickets.

On the Lower Ground, the Third XI played the Fourth XI. The Thirds won the toss and batted first, declaring on 208 for 5 in 45 overs. The highlight of the innings was 104 from John Fretwell, Dave Walton Scored 34 not out and George Lee 24 not out, Mike Wildsmith took 2 for 34. The Fourths hung on for a draw finishing on 161 for 9 with Adam Brennan scoring 55 and Mike Wildsmith 22, Robin Brown took 4 for 36 and Matt Mann 2 for 56.

The Fifth XI play on Sunday



Sunday 24th July....Win for Fifth XI

The Fifth XI played on Sunday this week and achieved an excellent win away to Birchfield Park's Fourth XI. Sefton won the toss and batted first, Jonathan Northcroft scored 42, Chris Brereton 21, and Matt Mann 45 in their declared total of 180 for 5 in 45 overs. Birchfield Park batted for nearly 31 overs in reply but were dismissed for 30 with Matt Mann taking 6 for 7 and Jamie Bowman 3 for 5.

The Sunday XI game at Presatyn had been rearranged to 4th September.
